The Massage Shack recently attended the 2010 National Fitness Convention held in Sydney over 3 days. This world class industry training event focuses on bringing the fitness industry together, to celebrate and further develop skills, expertise and professionalism.

There were many highlights but our main focus this year was to increase our knowledge of the fitness industry and to utilise new found business skills to improve The Massage Shack business model.

We look forward to passing on this knowledge by improving customer relationships and offering new and improved service.

The recent introduction of  HICAPS, an electronic health claims and payments system, has enabled members of participating health funds, the convenience of automatic claims processing, on the spot in the clinic. No more queuing at health fund branches and filling in claim forms.

The Massage Shack staff recently travelled the country to train in two new modalities. These include MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) and FFT® (Functional Fascial Taping).

Although a form of massage, MLD differs from ordinary massage. It is very gentle, with the aim being to encourage the movement of fluid/lymph away from swollen areas. The lymphatic system is a series of ducts, nodes and organs that balances the body's fluid levels. It also supplies the body with important immune cells. When this system becomes blocked, swelling of the blocked area occurs. This swelling is called lymphedema.

The good news is that lymphedema can be managed successfully with professional help, so call us now if you requires some MLD treatment.

Functional Fascial Taping (FFT®) is an extremely powerful technique that uses normal tape that is applied in a unique way to create instant pain relief and increases in range of movement for a large majority of musculoskeletal patients. You have probably heard these claims before, but FFT® is unlike conventional tape and the results and effect can be seen immediately. Read more about FFT® here or visit our Helpful Facts page for more information.
